Born in my favorite place on earth, Johannesburg, South Africa, 9.11.56; I'm of Lithuanian lineage.
My journey and romance with photography began at age 9, with the gift of a Kodak Instamatic camera, given me by my parents for my birthday. By age thirteen, I had constructed a rudimentary black and white darkroom at home and began to learn, study, experiment and practice. At fifteen, having worked tireless weekends in a part time job, I bought my first, extremely second-hand professional camera from a renowned black South African photojournalist. It had lots of dents and as much history and style, but worked beautifully.
